Leading Platform Engineering at Large Language Model Startup, Predibase
Come along to hear Julian talk about his journey in joining Predibase, an early stage VC backed US startup building a new AI platform from the ground up, with the same team who created the popular open-source ML libraries, Ludwig and Horovid. In this talk he will share some insights into why he made this leap from his previous roles in big tech, and some of the challenges and opportunities in building a machine learning platform in the age of Generative AI.
Julian will talk about why he thinks large language models are the new “low code”, and how Predibase is turning its focus to become an AI infrastructure company including touching on:
- The latest developments with Large Language Models.
- A deep dive into their platform architecture.
- The funding and investment landscape and Predibase’s journey to where it is today.
He’ll also share what it’s like to lead an engineering team remotely from Melbourne, and some insights on what we might expect from AI/ML/LLMs in the next 6-12 months.
