Generative AI music has reached new heights in 2023 with the release of state-of-the-art models by tech giants such as Google, Meta, and Stability AI. Largely attributed to the developments in Large Language Models, the past year has marked a significant breakthrough in the capabilities of these models with advancements in deep learning techniques to be able to model & produce music that closely resembles human compositions.
The journey to this point has been characterised by the persistent struggle of grappling with constraints related to technical challenges, computational power, data availability, and the inherent complexities of modelling audio & musical expression. These limitations have significantly impacted the quality of output achievable by early generative AI music models, often leading to compositions that fell short in terms of authenticity and complexity.
In this talk, Thomas will:
- Walk us through some of the recent developments of how AI music, singing and rapping models have evolved
- Share and compare generated examples from some of the top generative music models
- Discuss what this technology means for creators looking forward
